Suydam Construction Employee Handbook
Suydam Construction, LLC
Effective Date: June 23, 2025

Welcome to Suydam Construction

At Suydam Construction, we don’t just build homes—we build careers, character, and a crew that has each other's back. As a family-owned and operated company, we believe in doing right by our people and our clients. That means showing up with integrity, taking pride in every detail, and working together like a team that actually cares—because we do.
This handbook lays out everything you need to know to be successful here: our expectations, your benefits, our safety practices, and the company policies we follow, all in alignment with New York State laws. More than a rulebook, it’s a reflection of how we operate—with clarity, respect, and accountability.
Suydam Construction is proudly known as one of the most trusted names in residential construction in the area. We’ve earned our reputation the hard way—through consistent craftsmanship, fair dealing, and a crew that represents the brand with pride on and off the job. Our customers count on us, and we count on each other.
Whether you're here to learn, to lead, or to grow into a long-term role, you're now part of something bigger than just the job. We’re glad to have you aboard.
For any questions or clarifications, don’t hesitate to reach out to Human Resources (Barry Suydam).

Our Mission & Core Values
At Suydam Construction, LLC, our mission is simple: build great homes with great people. That mission is made real through a set of core values that guide how we work, how we treat one another, and how we show up for our clients and our crew—every single day.
Employees Come FirstWe believe that the success of any project starts with the people doing the work. When we invest in our team—through respect, fair pay, growth opportunities, and real support—we create a crew that takes ownership and pride in what they build. That energy is contagious, and it shows in the quality of our work and the strength of our team.
Safety Tied for FirstNo job is worth getting hurt over. We take safety seriously because we take care of each other. Every crew member deserves to go home in the same condition they arrived. That culture of looking out for one another creates trust—and trust builds strong teams.
Quality CraftsmanshipWe don’t just finish jobs—we finish them the right way. Our standards aren’t based on what’s acceptable—they’re based on what’s exceptional. Whether it’s rough framing or final paint touch-ups, we aim for GAF-level quality across the board. Clients trust us because we don’t cut corners, and that trust keeps us growing.
IntegrityIn this business, your word is everything. We show up when we say we will, do what we say we’ll do, and own it when things don’t go as planned. Honesty, fairness, and accountability aren’t just buzzwords—they’re the way we operate. And that’s why Suydam Construction is consistently regarded as one of the best in the area.
CommunicationA good crew talks. We ask questions, we speak up, we check in, and we work things out. Open, respectful communication keeps projects moving and helps us all get better at what we do. If something’s off, we talk it out. That’s how problems get solved and how teams grow stronger.
Why This MattersThese values aren’t just painted on a wall or printed in a handbook—they’re lived out on the job every day. They’re what create an environment where people enjoy coming to work, learn from one another, and feel proud of what they build. When our mission and values are upheld, we don’t just build great houses—we build a workplace where people thrive, talent grows, and reputation leads.
Welcome to Suydam Construction. Let’s build something great—together.
